Dynamic and Engaging Experience for Children

At EVCT, acting troupes offer a dynamic and engaging experience for children, catering to specific age or grade levels. Each session culminates in an exciting performance, providing participants with a chance to showcase their newfound skills and talents. In addition, these hands-on sessions are designed to immerse children in various aspects of drama and performing arts, allowing them to explore their specific interests and passions. From scriptwriting to improv, EVCT’s troupes provide a nurturing environment where children can unleash their creativity and develop their artistic abilities.

Literature ALIVE!
Literature Alive!, a literacy program at East Valley Children’s Theatre, encourages kids to read and write. EVCT has a Literature Alive Troupe that is made up of homeschooled kids. The troupe rehearses for 6 rehearsals in a five-week period both creating and performing an original script based on a children’s book. We then perform at elementary schools for kindergarten, first, and second grade students.
Adaptive Theatre Ensemble
People of all abilities are welcome to join our Adaptive Theatre Ensemble, which develops general theatre, team-building, and personal expression skills in a supportive environment. Ensemble members work together to create theatrical experiences adapted to a variety of physical, mental, and emotional needs under the direction of certified secondary educator Shira Schwartz. Verbal and non-verbal, ambulatory and non-ambulatory, and visual and auditory impairments are all accommodated.
Bravo Troupe
EVCT Bravo is a musical theatre performance troupe for youth ages 12-18. Participants learn songs and dance from Broadway shows and put them together into a show with singing, acting and dancing. The Troupe performs at various locations in the East Valley.
On The Spot Improve Teen Troupe
On the Spot teen improv troupe is for youth ages 13-18. Participants work on improvisational techniques in preparation for improv shows in the East Valley.
Express Acting Troupe
EVCT Express is an acting troupe for youth ages 8-16. From a title of a show, the troupe members create the story, the characters, and the dialogue to create a play. The play is rehearsed at the studio and performed in various locations (including bookstores and libraries) in the East Valley.
Jr. Jokesters Performances
EVCT Jr. Jokesters is an improv theatre troupe for kids ages 8-13, directed by Jamie Gilbert. Each semester, students develop and rehearse skills to tour improvised performances around the East Vally.

EVCT's Theatre Troupes are grouped to create camaraderie.

By dividing the theatre troupes based on age or grade levels, EVCT ensures that children are grouped with their peers, fostering a sense of camaraderie and creating an environment where they can learn and grow together. Secondly, these troupes serve as a platform for children to collaborate, share ideas, and support one another throughout the session. Further, the end-of-session performances serve as a culmination of their hard work, offering a rewarding experience that boosts their self-confidence and encourages further artistic exploration.
