Scholarship Program

The deadline to apply for an EVCT college scholarship is June 1st, annually.

East Valley Children’s Theatre awards former EVCT performers and technicians with scholarships for higher education. Selected candidates need to be enrolled in or intend to enroll full-time in a two-year junior college, four-year undergraduate college or university, graduate program, or professional theatre-training program. This is a one-year scholarship for the school year beginning in the fall. All applicants and recipients may reapply each year. Proof of enrollment is required.

EVCT also offers scholarships for classes, troupe membership, camps, and Main Stage Productions.  Scholarships given are either a ¼ or ½ payment scholarship for the program requested.  All scholarships are directed to our Scholarship Committee for consideration.  The number of scholarships given in a fiscal year depends upon the amount of money in the Scholarship Fund.  This varies from year to year.

Patricia and Robert Goyer Memorial Scholarship Fund

Patricia and Robert Goyer were active in children’s theater while growing up in Indiana. They met one another at DePauw University, while involved in a play. Patricia became a high school drama teacher and was later one of the founders of the Children’s Theater program in Athens, Ohio, where they were also active in Ohio Valley Summer Theater. They moved to Chandler, Arizona in 1981 when Robert accepted the position as Chair of the Communication Department at ASU. They were founders of Chandler Children’s Theatre (CCT), serving on the board for many years. The Goyers continued to be strong supporters for many years after CCT became EVCT in 1997. Patricia passed in 2013 and Robert in 2018.

The Goyers’ daughters Amy, Linda, and Susie established the Patricia and Robert Goyer Memorial Scholarship Fund at EVCT to honor their parents’ lifelong passion for the arts and to continue their parents’ work giving children opportunities to experience theater at a young age.

Karen & Ernie Rolston Scholarship Fund

Here’s what we believe: To cultivate their artistic talents, or to instill confidence, budding performers need opportunities to practice their performing art. EVCT’s Performance Troupes provide many opportunities to perform in different locations, under different circumstances, to gain confidence and self-esteem, learn to work together to achieve a common goal, and to create their art in an imaginative and welcoming space.
Your gift to the Karen & Ernie Rolston Scholarship Fund enables more students to gain access to being in a Performance Troupe and to receive these benefits. Karen is the former Artistic Director.
