EVCT WORKSHOPS
A Fully Inclusive Way To Offer Theatre To All
FREE- Workshop Series
June 21
Many differently-abled individuals are wonderfully artistic but are not given many opportunities to express or learn theatre. EVCT is working with Ms. Shira Schwartz to create a troupe that celebrates and supports the differences of all individuals. We are happy to work with each individual family to support their children. Students will work on general theatre skills and topics in each class.
Workshops will be once a month on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm at the EVCT Studio, 4501 East Main St, on SE corner of Greenfield and Main in Mesa.
Please be aware that all caregivers are invited to attend the workshops

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What does "adaptive" theatre mean?
A: Adaptive theatre is geared toward those who are differently-abled. Individuals with a variety of physical, mental, and emotional needs work together to create theatrical experiences.
Q: What types of accommodations can you make?
A: EVCT is open to all. We invite both verbal and non-verbal, ambulatory and non-ambulatory, and visually or auditory impairments. We are happy to work with each individual family to support their children.
Q: What if my child is non-verbal, or is in a wheelchair?
A: Your child will be supported to participate in all activities. If a non-verbal child has access to a switch or talker we ask that it is brought to the classes. This will help allow the students to use their voices more autonomously. If a switch or talker is not available, we will offer alternative methods of communication.
We understand that wheelchairs vary in size and will work to ensure that there is enough space to allow the chairs to move about without difficulty.
Q: Can a parent or caregiver attend with my child?
A: Yes. We invite all parents or caregivers to participate with their children.
Q: What if my child is nervous or scared?
A: Being nervous or scared of a new experience is normal. Our instructor has more than 20 years of experience working with children in the arts and is very supportive of each child. Theatre is about having fun and she works hard to ensure this occurs for each student.
Q: What ages can participate in the workshop?
A: Kids aged 8-18
Q: Will my child perform?
A: We plan to have a performance at the end of each semester. More information will be provided at a later date.
