Page-to-Stage Playwriting Festival

 In order to create an interest in playwriting and have an outlet for those young writers who already write plays, EVCT holds an annual playwriting festival in July each year. The plays will be critiqued by published playwrights and performed in a staged reading at the Mesa Arts Center. Children 8-18 years old can apply online to be chosen as a student playwright. In this program, led by Breona Conrad, students will workshop together to create original ideas for a series of short plays, then work with their individual professional playwriting mentors in bringing their ideas to fruition. Students who have current works in progress may also submit those for consideration. The finalized short plays will be performed at our Page-to-Stage Festival this July 2026. All applicants need to be available to workshop and work with a mentor, in person and online, throughout the spring session and submit their finalized play by May 2026.
