Literature Alive!

EVCT Literature Alive!

(Ages 10-18)

Jamie Gilbert, Director

Literature Alive, a literacy program at East Valley Children’s Theatre that encourages kids to read and write.   We have a Literature Alive Troupe that is made up of home schooled kids.  The troupe rehearses for 6 rehearsals in a five-week period both creating and performing an original script based on a children’s book.  We then perform at Elementary schools (for Kindergarten and First Grade students).

We go into the schools, read a book to the kids, then we act out the story in our 20 minute original play, and if time permits we do a little interactive activity with the kids who are in the audience.  Then as the kids leave they are all given a book of the story we just read and acted out.  The program has been very successful and is a great experience for actors and audience alike.

If you are interested in being a part of our Literature Alive program, please contact the office at 480-756-3828.
